In the city of Gothenburg in Sweden, hundreds of people came out to protest against the country's accession to NATO. This is reported by the local newspaper Goteborgs-Posten.

According to the publication, the police estimate the number of demonstrations at 200-300 people. The participants of the action demand the preservation of the traditional Swedish line in foreign policy — freedom from alliances and the position of neutrality of the state. "We are here because we want the freedom of the alliance to be preserved," said one of the protesters.

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Turkey's approval of Sweden's membership in NATO is at a "distant point." At the same time, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, said that the Swedish side had fulfilled all the conditions for joining the community.
